Workin’

So I’m working on this whole website thing everyday, and unfortunately I don’t have as much time to work on my blog as I’d like. The first thing before I start delving into the juicy articles I have in my head on all of the cool things I’m finding, I gotta develop the actual site first…and to make matters worse, I just started on a brand new site design.

What?

You wanna sneak peak?

OK…just for you….just this once.

I started designing it for a friend of mine thats a DJ, but he didn’t like it so I decided to redesign it and keep it for myself, and this theme (which has a lot more to it) I may save it for a photographer friend of mine who’s site I did a while ago (and it blows, but it was my first flash site).

P.S. The guy in the BG is my homeboy Dominic, a really awesome musician from Baltimore. I don’t know if I’m gonna keep his image back there though for the final design.

There are a few things that I wanna discuss.

1. GRIDS!

Why wasn’t I using grids to line my stuff up. I mean, granted I haven’t been doing this for THAT long, but heavens, grids makes this job so much easier. I’ve been against CSS frameworks for the time being because I wanna learn CSS backwards and forwards before I start using anyone elses premade framework, plus it doesn’t seem like it’d save THAT much time…but heck, I could be wrong about that too. My new site is the first one that I used grids to design, not only did it speed up the process, but everything just looks so much cleaner and smoother. Ha!

2. Flutter!

Ok, first of all, why aren’t you using wordpress as your CMS? Its super duper simple. Second of all, if you are, why aren’t you using flutter. A couple of my homeboys from freshout made flutter a while back to thank the open source community for being all open and sourcey. I’ve been fooling with flutter as an addition for playing music on some little sites I’ve build, but I’m just experimenting with the full capabilities of flutter. Its powerful as heck, and I may do a quick tut on it since the documentation can be a tad bit confusing to some people.
